Wanda Rose Frederick's Obituary
Wanda Rose Frederick, 91, died peacefully on January 27, 2021, in Tampa, Florida. She was born in Tampa to George and Mary Frederick and was preceded in death by them. She is survived by her beloved sister, Margaret Frederick.
Wanda was a lifelong resident of Tampa and lifetime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tampa. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Tampa, in 1947 and spent a 44-year career with GTE. An avid traveler and a dedicated volunteer, Wanda succeeded in visiting all 50 states; she was an Associate of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, a member of the Sacred Heart Academy Alumni Association, the Holy Names Alumni Association, the Catholic Women's Club of Hillsborough County, Friends of Sacred Heart, and Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women. She was also an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Tampa General Hospital for more than 10 years and a volunteer at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts for more than 15 years. In 2012 Wanda was deeply honored to be awarded the St. Jude the Apostle Medal by the Most Reverend Robert N. Lynch, then Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, for her distinguished and outstanding service to Sacred Heart Parish. Wanda was, indeed, a faith-filled person devoted to her church, her community, her friends, and most especially her sister Margaret.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated in Wanda's memory at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 509 North Florida Avenue, Tampa, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, with the Rite of Committal to follow immediately thereafter at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 4202 East Lake Avenue, Tampa.
