Wanda became a friend of my aunt’s when they were in the 4th grade together in about 1938 and she has remained a close friend of my family’s ever since. I can’t begin to describe everything that Wanda has done for, and meant to, my family. She was at so many of our family events over those 80 years that she simply became family to us. It was only recently that my 17 year old niece finally realized that Wanda (and Margaret) were not actually related to us!
I distinctly remember a birthday party for my grandmother at least 50 years ago. That night, my younger sister commented to me that Wanda always lit up the room wherever she was and she was so right! It’s funny, but the priest said the same EXACT words about Wanda at her funeral, yet we had not spoken to the him beforehand. He obviously had the same impression. Wanda was probably 40 at the most when my sister said that, yet he observed the same thing about her in the final years of her life!
Wanda was such an inspiration to me and to so many others, an example of faith, hope and love, an example of a smart independent woman before that was fashionable. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, cousin and friend. If she knew you, she cared about you or, more likely, loved you.
Wanda and I became closer as the years went by. After all my older family members died, Wanda was my last connection to that part of my past. Like me, Wanda was a night owl and it was almost always late at night when we talked on the phone. I tried to check in with Margaret and her often during the pandemic. They were smart and very cautious about staying safe and I am so proud of them both. However, Wanda mentioned to me increasingly over the last several months about how tired and short of breath she was becoming. Even though I am sad for myself, and especially for Margaret, I am grateful that she is now at rest, home with God in whom she had so much faith, home with her parents, home with George, home with all those she loved that had gone before her.
I already do, but will forever miss our late night chats. But, most of all, I will just really miss Wanda.
Margaret & family.... My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Wanda was a beautiful friend to all...very caring and welcoming to me when I first joined Sacred Heart Church. I will miss her and her warm, loving smile. She has inspired me as a Catholic women to follow in her footsteps. Margaret if there is anything you need I am only a phone call away. Much love to you Margaret your sister was a gem!! Blessings! Denise
Dear Margaret,
My husband and I of spoke of you and Wanda often and of the good times that we shared together. Even though we have not been able to get together in recent times, we knew we could always think about our friendship with fond memories of Sacred Heart. We are so Sorry for your Loss! We know that Wanda is enjoying the happiness of the Lord's Blessings. Please take care of yourself. May all God's Grace and Blessings be with you!

Margaret, my prayers and condolences go out to you. You and Wanda were great neighbors. May the wonderful memories you have of Wanda be some comfort now in your time of sorrow. Sister Ann Regan
I had the good fortune to work with Wanda at GTE in Tampa back in the 70’s. She became a good friend over 46 years. Many years we were many miles apart but always stayed in touch. I will remember her for her kindness and always having an interest in others. She truly cared about people. I will miss her, as we talked often during the pandemic. May her sister Margaret find strength and peace during this time. Wanda dance with the butterflies in the sky and sing in the sunshine wild and free. God bless you. Tony DeSantis
