Milagros I. Quinones' Obituary
Milagros Iturriaga Quiñones
November 16, 1931 – January 4, 2025
Milagros Iturriaga Quiñones passed away peacefully Saturday, January 4,2025 at her home of more than 62 years surrounded by her children. Milagros – loving and devoted wife, selfless mother, grandmother and great grandmother, caring sister, and forever friend – was a true treasure and presence of grace. The unconditional love she had for her family knew no bounds, and her beautiful spirit and radiant light will shine brightly forever in the many lives she touched. Her name Milagros translates in English to “miracle” – and her extraordinary life was a miracle and blessing to all those fortunate enough to know her and love her.
Her journey spanned more than 93 beautiful years, beginning on November 16,1931 when she was born in Bejucal, Cuba to parents Luis Felipe Iturriaga and Magdalena Rodriguez. She was a loving sister to her five siblings who shared an unbreakable bond and unwavering devotion to one another. In 1951, she married the love of her life Orlando Quiñones – a love story and loyal partnership of more than 63 years. With dreams of a better future, Orlando and Milagros left their homeland of Cuba in 1955 and immigrated to Tampa, Florida, where together they built a life centered around hard work, integrity, honesty – and most of all – unconditional love for family. In the land of opportunity, Milagros learned a new culture and language, went to beauty school, and became a business owner of “Milagros Beauty Salon” with many longtime clients and friends. A steady source of strength, the profound love for her family continued to be the cornerstone of her life throughout the decades. Milagros’ generous and kind spirit constantly put others before herself, expressing love for family and friends through her many actions – always lending a helping hand, giving others her undivided attention, cooking a comforting meal and giving hugs that could make all of your worries go away. Her beauty and goodness radiated inside and out, and Milagros was adored by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces and countless friends.
We will forever honor her legacy and the miracle and gift of her life, living by the remarkable example she set for all of us.
Milagros is preceded in death by her husband, Orlando Quiñones, her brother Jose Luis (Pepe) Iturriaga, sisters Mirta Esparza and Elsa Quesada, and her parents. She is survived by her children L. Orlando Quiñones (Sara) and Arleen Quiñones (Michael), five grandchildren, Anna, William and Katie Quiñones, Lesley Harris (Ryan), Alina Mauritz (Nick), four great grandsons, Joey and Alex Harris, Nicholas and Theo Mauritz, her sisters Rosa Valdes and Zenaida Abreu, and several nieces and nephews.
