It's difficult to use words to attempt to capture a lifetime of memories of one of the most special people. Milagros--Tia--never greeted us with anything other than a radiant smile. That smile reflected what was in her heart: joy, love, happiness. She was an inspiration to those who knew her, a friend and confidante, a sister and aunt, a mother and grandmother (and great-grandmother), a neighbor, a voice of calm and reason. During her long life, she modeled the belief that although life may not be perfect, it is still a wondrous thing. She placed the needs of others above her own. She anchored us, and her loss leaves us feeling a bit adrift.
However, we know she lives on with us, albeit in our hearts, memories, spirit and stories. She'll continue to inspire us to be our best, to seek good in others and in ourselves, as she did. We'll miss her hugs and her unconditional love.
