Barbara and Sammy, Joyce and Joe, all the Grands, Great-Grands and the Leon family: We were saddened to hear of Mario's passing, but know he is in a happier place, doing what he loved to do and being with all of those who have gone before him. I have so many fond memories of this sweet, sweet man and will always remember his kindness and love for Loretta, Joyce and Barbara, as well as his precious grandchildren. I remember being at the house on Grace behind the Fiesta Chorizo business ( and later, on Fern) and all the wonderful meals and happy times when Barbara, Sammy and Sami would come to town! Mario and Rose were the greatest of hosts and welcomed all of Barbara's friends to their house for the entire time they were in town, never tiring of all the commotion, cooking, etc. Mario was ahead of his time....Mario was a sous chef before anyone knew what a sous chef was. I still can hear Rose's voice saying to Mario, "Aye, Mario, chop the onions; Aye, Mario, cut the green peppers; Aye, Mario, make the platanos". Mario never complained and always did what he needed to do with a smile on his face. I know that I was blessed to have had Mario in my life and am a better person for having known him and all of this wonderful family. We all have another angel watching over us. God speed, Mario and rest in peace. I love you all.
