The last time we met up in London about 12 years ago, we spent the day (and night!) drinking beer, laughing, reminiscing and making new memories. Little did I know that when we said our very long goodbyes near your hotel, that would be the last time I would ever see you. Only earlier this year, we’d been discussing hopefully meeting up in 2021 when Simon and I would bring the kids to Orlando/Disney and we could make more memories together. However, memories (and some very grainy photographs) is now all I have and for that I am eternally grateful.
I’d like to thank you for introducing me to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, when I visited you in McLean for Christmas and New Year in 1992/93 – wow what a fun time we had! And now whenever I eat a cinnamon jelly bean it just transports me back to your bedroom, with you attempting to play your new guitar which you got for Christmas!
I have so many happy memories with you (and our little sisters) when we were kids - from visiting you in Kenya (screaming when gecko’s ran over us in our beds at night, swimming in the pools with crabs at the bottom at the Two Fishes hotel); weekends at Sulhamstead (wading through rivers full of cow dung, playing in empty pig sty’s and ‘that’ bouncy ball incident) and to those two weeks of sun, pool fun and ‘that’ water tank incident in Portugal. All have a special place in my heart along with you.
I am so honoured to have been able to call you a dear and true friend, someone who I will never forget. Love you always, you crazy cat - Katie xxx
