Mike Garcia introduced me to Joe three years ago and we had lunch a couple of times. I have played music for forty five years and was in a band Mike had managed also. Joe was a very personable person and I hated to hear of his passing. Best wishes to all his family. You've lost a great person.

If Joe were to know we were all crying at his loss he would do a series of weird accents and one liners and the tears would stop flowing and the laughing would start. I will always remember him with a smile, his good nature, his humor, his talent and mostly his friendship. How many bands, how many tours, how many movies? After 43 years of doing it I can't even count. But having him in my life was always joyful - the Italian-Cuban-Jew - who knew? Who cared? It was Joe - it will always be just "Joe" - and boy, do I miss him. Make them smile in heaven Joe, I know you can - and boy do they need you now.
I first met Joe in 1963 at Frank Cannella's mom's carport where Frank and I were putting together our first band.Joe was one of Frank's friends from Ybor City days and came by to say hi.I'll always remember he sat down behind my drums and showed me a lick or two! I was always proud to tell friends,over the years,"Hey,I know the guy on congas on this record"! Rest in peace Joe,I'll see you in Heaven.

To Joe's Family, I did not know Joe as well as his manny friends however when we met he was always very pleasant,polite,and funny.

The last few mornings Tango and I have waited to hear the familiar jingle jangle of Waldie and Rubie's leashes on the way to the dog walk - it's hard to believe those daily rendez-vous' will be no more. Robert of course will sorely miss the afternoon ragging on one another sessions while the dogs gambled about you both. Joe we loved having you as a neighbor and we very much miss seeing you and talking with you. May you be partaking in one heck of a jam session Mr Lala!
I am deeply saddened to hear of your transition Joe. You are a kind soul and the most generous person I have ever know. My prayers for peace and strength go to your family, for you my friend are basking in the bliss of God's eternal love. I will always remember you practicing your drums at your home on Noel Street, behind Vivian Delgado's house and the fabulous Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young concert you took all your family and friends to.
