When Alan first joined the firm we were in the old Florida/Lykes building. Space was limited so Alan's office was on the floor with administration, accounting, the computer and mail room. To get to the rest of the firm you had to take the elevator down to the lobby, cross over to the other side to another bank of elevators and up. Needless to say we were pretty isolated and contact with other staff was minimal. During that time Alan became one of us; transitioning into the firm, joining us at times for breaks, lunch and the occasional happy hour. Alan was finally released into the general population and we got our new offices in the Barnett building. As Alan worked his way up the ladder and became partner, we continued to remain friends. Even years after some of us left the firm, Alan would call on occasion just to check in. Besides his friendship, I will always remember him for his sharp analytical mind, his wit, his ability to push your buttons and his wonderfully genuine laugh. I will always treasure those early years.
Godspeed my friend.
