Mrs. Jennie D'Elia Caltagirone's Obituary
Caltagirone, Jennie D'Elia, 91, resident of Tampa, FL for 85 years passed away on April 8, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 12, 1924 in Swissvale, PA to the late Philip and Aida D'Elia. Preceded in death by her brothers Frank and John D'Elia and son-in-law James Ojala. She was the beloved wife of Philip Perricone Caltagirone for 68 years and the loving mother of four children: Michael (Cristina), Louis (Roberta), Darlene Ojala (Mike Williams) and JoAnna Piazza (Joseph). Jennie was also a dedicated and loving Nana to seven grandchildren: Angelina Carter (John), Louis Caltagirone, Jr. (Emily), Paul Caltagirone (Rose), Carla Caltagirone, Victor Ojala, Genevieve Ojala, Trey Curry, and six great grandchildren: Joshua, Jason, Mallory, Kai, Nathan and Gabriel. Jennie was a beautician for 30 years and the owner of Venus De Milo Beauty Salon. She was an active member with leadership roles in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Loggia Mona Lisa, Northside Auxiliary, Temple Terrace Friendship Club, Temple Terrace Garden Club, Temple Terrace Women's Club, and The Italian Club. She contributed many hours as a hospital volunteer and enjoyed ceramics, crafts of all kinds, crocheting, knitting, and cooking for family and friends. A Memorial Mass for the repose of Jennie's soul will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1711 11th Avenue, Ybor City. Interment will follow at the Italian Club Cemetery, 26th St and 24th Ave, followed by receiving family and friends at The Italian Club, 1731 E. 7th Ave. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Italian Club Cemetery fund or to LifePath Hospice in lieu of flowers.
