Harry R. Fonte's Obituary
With a sad heart I am informing you that Harry Roberts Fonte, 73 of Tampa passed away April 13, 2018. Harry was a native and longtime resident of Tampa. He was a 1964 graduate of Plant High School and and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Harry was the youngest of 7 boys and 3 girls of Ignazio G. and Rosalie Fonte. The Fonte family began Pioneer Cleaners, Tampa’s first dry cleaning company, in 1915.
During Harry’s early life and after retirement from the State Attorney’s office, he worked at the family owned business, Pioneer Cleaners. Harry served as a Military Police Officer in the U. S Air Force at MacDill AFB in Tampa during the Vietnam era. He moved to Tallahassee, FL and became an Investigator with the Office of State Attorney in Leon County of which he retired. Harry was a member of The Hugh Gilbert Strickland American Legion Post 138 in Port Tampa, FL, the John Darling Masonic Lodge No. 154 in Tampa and a proud supporter of the NRA.
Harry was the kind of happy-go-lucky-guy who would greet you with a big SMILE. He is the guy who would make you feel good about yourself even if you wanted to feel down. He was also the guy who would do a favor for anyone who asked him. When Harry was asked how he was able to maintain a positive attitude on such a regular basis he would tell you that he enjoyed life and loved being around people, family and friends.
Harry will be missed.
