Fernandez, Ethel's Obituary
Ethel (Etelvina) Fernandez, age 103, a lifelong resident of Tampa, passed away on May 19, 2026. Ethel was born in Spain on March 5, 1923. Ethel was raised in Ybor City and West Tampa. Ethel retired from the Hillsborough County School System after 30 years as a lunchroom manager.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Artie Fernandez, her daughter Arleen Knight, her grandson Jason Rogers, Frank Rosete and Phillip Rosere.
She is survived by her sister, Hortensia Beiro, her daughter, Elaine Fernandez (Eddie), granddaughters, Trina Fuller, Amy Diaz (Emilo) and Katie Lot (Mario) and grandsons, Justin Rogers (Alyssa) and Jacob Rogers (Tiara), along with seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ethel was happiest spending time with her family and having everyone over for Sunday spaghetti dinners. She was the matriarch of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to her church, St. Johns Presbyterian Church at 4120 North MacDill Avenue, Tampa, Florida or Centro Asturiano at 1913 N. Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, Florida.
