The first time I met my future mother-in-law (Carmen), was when dropping in to meet “the family” on our way to a concert. There were dim lights and soft candles burning in the living room as we entered. Then, we heard an angel’s voice saying evening prayers in the back bedroom in Spanish while Carmen was putting her youngest child, Robert, to bed. I felt the power of the Holy Spirit all around us. When she finished and came to greet us, she offered a kind and welcoming hug and asked for my hand. She put her delicate hand up to mine and remarked that we both had small hands. “Very good,” she smiled and said. This set the tone for a lifetime of love, nurturing, and kindness, not only for ourselves and her friends and family, but eventually for our three children. There is no doubt in my mind, that Carmen is in Heaven with her husband and passed on relatives, having a huge celebration and feast. Carmen will always be with us. I love her forever.
