Armando De La Torre Jr.'s Obituary
Armando DeLaTorre Jr. entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Armando was born on August 8, 1945 in Ybor City. He is a graduate of Jefferson High School, C/O ‘64. He served in the US Army, and was stationed in Vietnam, 1968-69. He retired in 2013 after working for Lorillard for thirty-eight years. He was married to the love of his life, Tanya, for 18 years. Together they cherished spending time with their family, friends, traveling, volunteering, and attending Calvary Church. Armando was a devoted sports fan! He loved all Tampa area sports teams including the Buccaneers, Rays, and Lightning. He was most passionate about the Florida Gators! Go Gators!
Armando is survived by his wife, Tanya DeLaTorre, daughter, Dawn Katz (Richard), son Brian DeLaTorre (Mandi), daughter Tammy Acker (Steve), daughter Stephanie Jensen (Ken), son Brian McBride (Tasha). Grandchildren Tyler, Riley & Preston Katz; Addison & Atley Acker; Jacob & Caleb Jensen; Nicole DeJesus & Kim Jansen; Mason, Easton & Gryphon McBride. Sisters Sally Monteressi (Joe), Sylvia Maggio (Phillip), and Irene DeLaTorre. Nieces and Nephews, Dory Perez, Darren Monteressi, PJ Maggio, Tracy Cox, Jason DeLaTorre. He is preceded in death by his parents, Armando DeLaTorre and Esperanza Quesada.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 8 from 6pm to 8pm at Boza & Roel.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 at 10:30 am at Boza & Roel. Burial with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, due to FL National Cemetery not accepting flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America at lupus.org or The American Heart Association at heart.org in memory of Armando.
