Amelia LaVilla Soto's Obituary
SOTO, AMELIA, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on 3/07/2018. She was born on May 27, 1928 in Habana, Cuba. She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Luis, her parents Fausto LaVilla y Bances and Rosario Morata Canada of Habana, Cuba, and her brother Rafael LaVilla. She is survived by her two daughters: Amelia Soto Silverstein, and Leticia (Angel) Soto Baltar. Sisters: Rosario Morata and Consuelo (James) Zieman. Sister-in-law: Edelmira (Fiol) Cruz. Grandchildren: Luis Emilio (Christine) Gonzalez, Amy (Robert) Gonzalez Martz, Rex (Patti) Gonzalez, Angel (Theresa) Baltar, Jr, Melisa (Brad) Baltar Meredith; Great Grandchildren: Rachael Renee Martz, Jacob, Megan and Alyssa Gonzalez, Chase Gonzalez, Taylor and Savana Lovingood, Mackenzie and Isabella Baltar, and Connor and Blake Meredith. Godchildren: Gloria deTrull, Mayda Miranda, Jack Ferras, Allan Morales and Gertrudis Iturralde (deceased). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs Soto’s hobbies and favorite pastimes were photography, music, and baseball. She enjoyed playing her piano, listening to her favorite artists on the radio and playing her records.
She also enjoyed going to the West Tampa Little League park with her husband Luis and cheering her two grandsons as they played baseball.
In years past she loved going to the Jai Alai Fronton with her family. In more recent years, on Saturdays she enjoyed playing Bingo with her close friends, and always looked forward to going to her favorite restaurants Arco Iris on Tuesdays, and La Oriental on Sundays.
She loved spending time with her family. She was very proud of her two daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and their achievements.
At the request of Mrs. Soto, there will not be a service.
Donations in our Mrs. Soto’s name may be made to Casa Cuba or Club 15.
