Yolanda Ann Mendez's Obituary
Yolanda Ann Mendez passed away peacefully on April 22, 2021. Yoli lived in Tampa, Florida, her whole life, but experienced the world by traveling with her family. She joins her husband, Dr. Ovidio Mendez, son Ovidio Mendez, Jr., her father, Armando Rodriguez, and her sister Dorothy Perez Farmer in heaven. She leaves behind her eldest son, Edward Mendez, his wife Jessica Weinberger Mendez, and their three children (Mia, Bryn, and Lucas). Being Abuela to Eddie’s children brought Yoli much joy and happiness. Yoli also leaves behind her youngest son, Daniel Mendez, and his wife Karyn Zalman Mendez, who are expecting their first child. While Yoli did not meet him here on Earth, she was overjoyed to learn he would be coming this year. Yolanda is also survived by her mother, Adelaide Rodriguez, and many friends and family members.
Yoli lived life to its fullest, even through all the difficult times, she never lost her faith in God and strived to do all she could to honor her late husband and son. She was actively involved in 1Voice Foundation, supporting families with children with cancer. She made multiple trips to Washington, D.C. fighting to support legislation to provide funding for research dedicated to childhood cancers.
In lieu of flowers, Yoli’s family asks donations be made in her memory to this foundation that was so dear to her heart. The link to donate is: https://1voicefoundation.org/donate-today/.
Her service mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church (12708 North Dale Mabry Highway Tampa, Fl, 33618) at 10:00am on Friday, April 30, 2021.
