I was incredibly saddened to hear about Bill. We had such memorable times in the Batavia Alexander Attica area in the early 70s. We made a cross country trip from NY to CA in my ‘65 Chevy Malibu the summer of 1970. No AC in the car! We soaked our shirts in water from the beer cooler, opened the windows, and hoped the rushing air would cool us through evaporation. Worked for 10 minutes or so. He was such a wordsmith. One time he joined me as I tapped some trees with my girlfriend’s grandfather on his property on Tinkham Road. With that impish smile of his, he dubbed it The Maple Sapple Circle Circuit. He knew every word to Bye Bye Miss American Pie. In 1972. I hitched a ride with another ‘partner in crime’ back then, Gary Fuest, in his semi from LeRoy NY to Tampa where Bill had a house (and a monkey!)
I wish I had known he was so geographically close. I moved to Orlando in 1980 and Kissimmee in 1996, a stone’s throw from Polk City. What I would have given to sit with Bill, open a brew (or two), relive Crazy memories, and howl 🎶 DROVE THE CHEVY TO THE LEVY...🎶
I’ll never forget you Bill. My condolences to your wonderful family.
