William C. Enriquez's Obituary
ENRIQUEZ, William C., 99, a lifelong Tampa resident, passed away November 6, 2017. Bill was born August 27, 1918 to the late Domingo and Josefa Enriquez. Bill was a member of the gymnastics and basketball teams at the West Tampa Boys Club at Union Street and Albany Ave. The gymnastics team once performed in St. Petersburg for the N.Y. Yankees baseball team, including the great Babe Ruth, who shook hands with all the boys afterwards. Bill was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop #38 who also met at the Boys Club. He was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a proud graduate of Hillsborough High. Bill worked for 10 years for A&P Grocery Stores. Then in 1954, he left A&P Stores and went to work for Publix Markets, Inc. He retired from the Hillsboro Plaza Publix in March 1984 after 30 years of service. Bill enjoyed fishing, dancing, spending time with family, going on cruises and It’s A Small World ride at Disney World. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers Robert and Rudy Enriquez, sister Elisa Menendez, and daughter Deborah Cotten. Bill is survived by Saundra, his beloved wife of 47 years, children; Bill, Jr (Mary), Marti Diaz (Lou), Glenn (Donna), and Susan Moser (Dan), son in law Chuck Cotten (Jill), 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am – 1 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 1pm, Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N Armenia Ave Tampa, FL 33603.
