Violet Casares Diaz's Obituary
Violet C. Diaz was born on October 23rd,1932 in West Tampa, Florida. She was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School Class of 1950 and was Queen of the Latin Fiesta, which allowed her to participate in many memorable events, including her first trip to Cuba.
Violet and her late husband Bill owned and operated La Floridana Cigar Company in Ybor City for many years, but her true passion was her 30-plus years spent as the bookkeeper for Christ the King Catholic Church and School.
Upon her retirement, Violet and Bill fulfilled their lifelong dream of relocating to Anna Maria Island, Florida, where they had honeymooned more than 40 years earlier. They returned to Tampa in 2017 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
She was a devoted daughter to parents Violeta and Faustino Casares and a doting sister to brothers Joe and Ernie (deceased). A loving wife to Deacon Bill Diaz for 68 years, she leaves behind her daughter Valerie Diaz-Holland (Bob), son Rick Diaz (Sue), grandchildren William “Hayden” Holland and Brianna Diaz and other family members and friends too numerous to mention.
The family wishes to thank the loving caregivers at Annie’s Assisted Living at Cape Bend, as well as the members of her hospice team.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21st, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, 33609, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m.
A lunch reception from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be held in the McLaughlin Center immediately following the service.
