When my sister Jessica married Bob, I got not only a brother-in-law but also a (almost) mother-in-law of the kindest sort. Viola was generous with her home and her heart and on my trips to Florida I always tried to squeeze in a visit to Tampa. Bob and Judy were the light in her eyes. She loved them beyond measure, and she adored her grandchildren. My favorite memories are of sharing many Noches Buenas with the Betancourt family on Abdella Street and later on Cadiz. Viola was strong in her affection, for better or worse. And if you crossed her, it was for the worse! Viola, I will think of you often, especially when I am in the kitchen cooking up your recipes for roast pork, black beans and rice, and most of all, when I am making flan. Viola, I love you and I will miss you. My heart and prayers are with your wonderful family.
