Vince, it was an honor knowing you. Thank you for pulling me aside and telling me about my Abuelo and how his kindness to you as a kid always meant so much to you. It meant the world to me and you passed something on to me that I will never forget. Sorry I’m traveling and will miss sharing the celebration of your incredible life. Deepest sympathy to all. Vincenzo and I were dear friends for almost 60 years. I met Vince at Papa Spoto’s when I was a student at the University of Tampa. I learned then that Vince was friends with my cousin Homer Arena, who also attended UTampa.
Over the years, Vince and I met up for lunch or dinner many times, usually lunch in Carollwood or dinner at Donatello’s. And one memorable dinner, in June 2018, at Ristorante il Buco in Sorrento, Italy.
