Rev. Thomas "Tom" Capps' Obituary
Capps, Rev. Thomas “Tom” 77, of Lutz was promoted to his Heavenly home August 13, 2015. Rev. Capps was a native of Erwin, NC, and a graduate of Erwin High School and Southeastern Bible College. He was a pastor at Springhead Assembly of God and First Assembly of God, both in Plant City. Rev. Capps along with his wife, Gail, pioneered New Beginning Ministries in Plant City, serving as pastor for eight years. He was Presbyter for the Pentecostal Church of God until he and his wife became full time evangelists. Additionally, Rev. Capps had the honor of serving as Chaplain for the Florida Senate in 1981, and was privileged to serve 12 years as a Presbyter of the Assemblies of God. Additionally, he was a Chaplain for the Florida Holiday Inns, and on the board of directors for Teen Challenge. He is survived his wife, Gail Ramos Capps; sister, Carolyn Stone (Ed); sons, Kirk Johnson (Stephanie) and Eric Johnson; daughters, Terrie Wyly (Jody) and Sharon Colisino (Tim); grandchildren Christopher, Taylor, Eric, Jason, Lane and Brandi; as well as extended family and friends. Rev. Capps was pre-deceased by his father, George Capps; mother Neva Sanford Capps; and brothers Lewis Capps and Bobby Capps. A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 1 PM followed by a memorial service at 2 PM at River of Life Church, 410 East Chapman Road, Lutz, FL. Interment will follow at Centro Asturiano Cemetery, Tampa, FL. Friends and family will gather for fellowship after the burial. In lieu of flowers donations in Rev. Capps’ name may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
