Sylvia Ann Oberting's Obituary
Sylvia Ann Oberting, a lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025. She was a warm and compassionate woman whose life was marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Born to Celestino Cuervo and Jennie Canto, Sylvia grew up in a loving home and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Academy, where she formed cherished lifelong friendships. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her roots and to the Tampa community she called home.
Sylvia had a heart for service, working for many years with Meals on Wheels, where she found joy in caring for others and making a difference in the lives of those in need. Whether delivering meals or lending a listening ear, she always brought warmth and compassion to every interaction. Sylvia was a gifted gardener who nurtured both flowers and friendships with equal care. She was also a talented cook and baker, known for preparing delicious meals that brought family and friends together around the table.
Sylvia’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Daley and husband Tim, her son Craig Oberting and partner Richard Martin, and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Kayla Daley, as well as her dear cousins and extended family, who brought joy, laughter, and support to her throughout her life. She will be remembered always for her gentle spirit, giving heart, and the countless lives she touched along the way.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N Armenia Ave, Tampa, FL 33603.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Meals on Wheels, in honor of Sylvia’s lifelong commitment to caring for others.
