Sixto "Tito" Cintron Jr.'s Obituary
Sixto “Tito” Cintron Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on May 14th, 2026 at 70 years old.
Born on July 22nd, 1955 in Manhattan, NY and raised in Brooklyn, his parents moved to New York from San Sebastian, Puerto Rico in search of a better life and opportunities. The youngest of four siblings, Tito was adventurous, free spirited, and fearless from the very beginning, picking up many lived experiences and skills in the melting pot of New York City in the 20th Century.
After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, then later graduated from the Magna Institute of Dental Technology in Brooklyn, where he found his professional calling as a Dental Technician. A valuable trade he perfected over a successful 50 year career, Sixto was highly-skilled and accomplished in his field, owning and operating several dental laboratories throughout New York City, Miami, and Tampa.
In 1975, Sixto became a father for the first time to Sixto “Papo” Cintron III, marking one of the proudest moments of his life. Tito would go on to father two other children, Steven Bobby Cintron, in 1980, and Seth Elliot Cintron, in 1983. In 1992, he met the love of his life, Cynthia Garcia Cintron, after relocating from Staten Island, NY to Miami, FL. He later adopted Cynthia’s children as his own, adding a son, Elgin Cintron, and daughter, Merissa Colon, to his growing family. He loved his wife and children dearly and always put their needs and wellbeing before his own. The patriarch of the Cintron family, he was heavily involved with everything from school to recreation, serving as a Boy Scout Troop Leader, Little League Baseball Coach, Swim Instructor, and everything in between.
Beyond his immediate family, Tito shared an extraordinary closeness with his extended family as well, nurturing deep bonds with his cherished siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. His devotion to those within his circle was unwavering, serving as a constant source of support and affection that became one of his most defining and remarkable qualities. Simply put, he never turned his back on anyone and had endless love to give. His compassion also extended to all living creatures; he adored his pet cats and spent much of his life rescuing and rehabilitating stray cats, dogs, birds, and countless other animals in need.
More than just a devoted family man, Tito leaned into a number of hobbies and interests that allowed him to savor life to the fullest and satisfy his need for excitement. He was an avid scuba diver, a lover of boating and the outdoors, and a passionate sports enthusiast—drawn mostly to boxing, football, and basketball. A true citizen of the world, he traveled far and wide, exploring places like Italy, Spain, France, Monaco, Greece, Egypt, Hawaii, Mexico, Croatia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and most of the Caribbean. As well-cultured and dynamic as he was, however, his favorite activity above all else was spending time with his loved ones. No matter what he was doing, he just wanted to include his family.
Tito is survived by his wife, Cynthia Garcia Cintron; his children, Sixto “Papo” Cintron III, Elgin Cintron (Catherine), and Merissa Colon (Samuel); his grandchildren Isaiah Cintron (Maia), Jaden Cintron, Essence Scavone (Vincent), Kamryn Colon, Sariah Cintron, Stella Colon, Juliana Colon, Liam Cintron, and Aaron Cintron; his great grandchildren Naomi Cintron, Zayla Cintron, Kaia Cintron, and Catalina Scavone; and his brother Wilson Cintron. He is preceded in death by his sons Steven Bobby Cintron and Seth Elliot Cintron; his parents Juana Martinez Cintron and Sixto Cintron Sr.; and his siblings Wilfredo Cintron and Blanca Cintron.
Tito leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and adventure that will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though his physical presence may be gone, the power of his love remains in the hearts of all he touched forever. Flowers and/or contributions made in his honor to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay or a local animal rescue of your choice are equally welcome.
Services will be held at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 North Armenia Ave., Tampa on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 3:00-5:00 PM.
