Sharon May Slowey's Obituary
Sharon May Slowey, also known as Coach Slowey, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2020. Sharon was predeceased by her beloved husband Don and leaves behind four children, Dianna (John), Beau (Carolyn), Scott (Kim) and Patrick, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and other family and a multitude of friends, all of whom she adored and who adored her right back. The following was written by her granddaughter Brenna.
"I could write about her time at Incarnation Catholic School, I could go on about the thousands of children that she taught how to swim, I could write an entire book on the family that she created and those of us left behind. But if you are reading this, those are things you already know. I'm going to focus on things you might not know.
Sharon loved the color green, and she loved to travel the world, continuing to do so well into her 70s. Sharon loved her cat, who she had for more than a decade but never named. Sharon liked to push her grandchildren into pools when they weren't expecting it, just to make sure they could get out. Sharon loved to cook, but, honestly, she was not that great at it. Sharon loved to look out her front window to see the people and animals outside and wonder what they were doing. Sharon loved Tampa Bay sports-the Bucs, the Lightning, and the Rays-never missing a chance to watch a game.
Sharon loved loud conversations and that her family yelled over each other to be heard. Sharon loved the water, because she said it made her feel free. I think she is somewhere with water, floating along, weightless and free. Sharon Slowey loved life and will be sorely missed by those of us left here, waiting to join her in the water."
Due to current CDC restrictions there will be a small service for immediate family only.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" mass at Incarnation Catholic Church at a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers there is a scholarship fund set up in the name of Sharon Slowey at Incarnation Catholic School. You may contact Marrie McLauglin @(813)884-4502.
