Ruaidhri "Ruri" Edward Murray's Obituary
Ruaidhri (Ruri) Edward Murray, 52, died Monday March 14, 2016. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Polly Murray. Survivors include his brothers Lorcan (Cathy), Michael, Patrick (Gina), Timothy, Kevin (and Joan), cousin, Brenda and Ruri’s beloved dog Bennie, the Boxer. Ruri was born with several physical and cognitive challenges all of which he managed cheerfully. He lit the flame at one of the first Special Olympics held in Tampa. He loved to fish and to meticulously detail other people’s cars. He served as Monsignor Higgins’ altar boy and as a faithful helper to us all. Ruri was a continual and genuine source of love and joy for our family and friends. He was truly one of God’s lilies of the field and in his gentleness and simplicity gave us a glimpse of Divine Love. His generous soul exuded an innocence and a lack of guile, but always with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was our favorite brother and friend. And as he said to us before he died, “We’re here all taking care of each other”. Ruri will be painfully missed. The Murray brothers and Monsignor Higgins thank all those who helped during this difficult time. Stephen Lambert and C. J. Sagorski will assist the Murrays as pall bearers.
The viewing for Ruri will be held on Saturday March 19th at 12 noon in St. Lawrence Catholic Church. His funeral Mass will follow at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories.
