Rose Amorelli Martino's Obituary
MARTINO, Rose Amorelli (Nana Rose), passed away Tuesday evening, July 10,2012. Her sudden death leaves behind a loving family to mourn the loss of a shining example of all that a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend should be. Rose's beauty, kindness, gentle manner, generosity of spirit, positive outlook and wonderful sense of humor guided her family in all things. Rose was born on February 11, 1925 to Pietro and Bessie Amorelli . Her father immigrated from Alessandria de la Rocca, Sicily. He began his business as a shoemaker in West Tampa where he and Bessie raised 5 children. Widowed at an early age, Bessie moved her family of five to Los Angeles when Rose was a student at Washington Jr. High. It was there that she met the man who would be the love of her life. Rose went on to graduate from high school in Los Angeles and shortly after graduation, eloped with her childhood sweetheart from Tampa, Sam Martino. They married in Palm Springs, CA in 1943 and shared 56 years together and 4 children. We are consoled today by the fact that she was ours...that she taught us all the important lessons of life and shared her strength and wisdom freely. Rose was deeply loved and cherished as the matriarch of her family and she experienced that adoration everyday of her life. The example she set for our family and the legacy of love she gave us lives on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rose is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Sam C Martino, and brother Sam Amorelli . She is survived by her sons, Ronald T Martino (Kathleen), Dr. Samuel C Martino (Aileen), Tom P Martino (Karen), and daughter Rosanne Crouse (Jonathan), 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, as well as, her sisters' Marian Pappalardo, Adeline Amorelli, and brother Frank Amorelli (Joan) in Los Angeles.
