Rodrigo Jurado's Obituary
JURADO, MD, Rodrigo (Rod), Dr. Jurado, of Clearwater, Fl and ClarkesIville, GA. passed away April 30,2013 in ClarkesIville. Born in the Republic of Panama he moved to Tampa at an early age. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School, graduated from Jesuit High School and received hls B.S. degree from the University of Florlda, Gainesville. He graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine with an M.D. degree. He completed his medical internship at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas and a pathology residency at Jackson-Memorial Hospital, Miami,Florida. He was a military veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served as a staff pathologist at Wilford Hall Medical Center. After serving his country, he returned to Tampa where he was a staff pathologist at Smith, Kline and French Clinical Laboratory. He loved working with patients of all ages and turned to family medicine becoming a Diplomate of the AmeriIcan Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was a family physician in Largo, Florida for 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Aida Yglesias Jurado;5 children, Rod,Jr.(Melody), Jaime Jose (Catherine Mary), Dr. Miguel (Judith), Cristina and Marisa Jurado; his brother, Jaime (Teresa); cousin, Carmen Dlaz(Ernle); 7 grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Jose, Matthew, Adriana, Suzanne, Michael and Elizabeth Ann and many relatives in Panama. He was a life member of the American Medical AssoIciation, Florida Medical Association, Pinellas County Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Florida Academy of Family Physlcians. He retired In 1999 and enjoyed traveling and spending time at his beloved Soque River home in the mountains of northeast Georgia with his family. He was much loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3rd from 6-8 pm at the Boza & Roel Funeral Home located at 4730 N Armenia Avenue, phone 813-877-7676. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 4th at 11 AM at Jesuit High School Chapel on Himes Ave. In lieu of flowers contributiIions can be made to Salesian Youth Center or Centro Asturiano.
