Mr. Robert Saavedra's Obituary
Robert Saavedra Sr., passed away suddenly Monday, April 16, 2007. Born in Tampa in 1936, he was married to his beloved wife of 49 years, Margaret, after completing his tour of duty with the U.S Navy. His love of sports and sailing was superceded only by the love of his ever-growing family. When he wasn' t bowling or at a Bucs game or working in his yard, he was at his second favorite place he affectionately called "his beach." Robert never wanted to retire; he couldn' t sit still for that long. He enjoyed working as a foreman for his adopted nephew, Jason, at Jason' s Hauling and was known by his co-workers and drivers as "Tio Robert." He was always quick with a smile and a good story. He was a member of the Masons and a parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where he rarely missed the 7:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. He enjoyed a good game with his group of friends at the Domino Room and also found time to occassionally bowl with his Crown Lanes 4 Aces League, having bowled, on several occasions, perfect games. He will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Margaret; his daughter, Leslie Alcala, her husband, Louis, and their boys, LB and Dereck; his daughter, Lynn Ann McCarthy, her husband, Shawn, and their children, Jhett and Skye; and their only son, Robbie, his wife, Lisy and their children, Vanessa and Joshua; as well as his remaining sisters, Chiqui Hero and Martha Licata, their husbands, Orlando and Tony; and numerous nephews and nieces. He leaves behind a huge circle of friends, countless memories and good times. Because of his love of the sea, his ashes will be scattered in the gulf at a later time, surrounded by his loving family
