Robert E. Patterson's Obituary
Robert E. Patterson ,77, of Tampa, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019. He was born July 27, 1942 in Warren, Ohio to the late Robert and Gaynell (Minto) Patterson.
Robert was educated at Youngstown University and Kent State University ROTC. He was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army. During his service he received Parachutist Wings; his Combat Infantryman's Badge; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device 1960; Bronze Star for Valor Medal and a Purple Heart Medal. He retired at the rank of Captain. After his honorable discharge he started working as a teacher at Morgan Woods Elementary. He went on to become the Elementary Health Coordinator for all the elementary schools in Hillsborough County, Florida. He was also the Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 215 for many years and represented the Gulf Ridge Council in Trinidad, Tobago and Barbados as well as the 1977 and 1981 National Jamborees. During this time, he helped shape many young men for adulthood. Robert was and is also a member of the Central Florida Muscogee Creek Tribe for over the past 30 years holding many appointed and elected positions. He touched so many lives in so many different areas of our community and will be missed by them all. He leaves behind a legacy that will endure well past the ones he knew and had the privilege to be around.
He is survived by two sons; Christopher Patterson (Sheri), and Scott Patterson (Penny);as well as grandson, Martin Patterson.

Robert will be interred with military honors on October 18, 2019 at 12:30 pm at the Bay Pines National Cemetery 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, Florida 33708 .
