Ramon Valdes Sr., a faithful servant of the Lord, was called home to be with Jesus on August 5, 2025, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 84. He was born on July 26, 1941, in Cabaiguán, Cuba, and spent his life devoted to the things that mattered most--his faith, his family, his community, and doing what he loved.
He celebrated 62 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ivy M. Valdes. He is also survived by his three children: Ivyta (Rodobaldo), Ivette (Erik), and Ramon Jr. (Heidy). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Adriana, Amberlyne (Gio), Lizcary, Erik Ramon (Julia), Leonardo, Daniela, and Antonio. Ramon Valdes Sr. was the kind of father and grandfather who always showed up--whether it was with a warm hug, a wise word, or cheering from the sidelines.
One of his greatest passions in life was playing softball. He found joy and camaraderie on the field, playing the game he loved well into his later years. Just as memorable were the many years he spent preparing and frying empanadas for the annual church carnival--an act of love that brought the community together and left everyone looking forward to his cooking year after year.
Ramon Valdes Sr. lived a life full of purpose, generosity, quiet strength, and unwavering faith. His legacy is one of love, laughter, hard work, and faith. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
