Philip J. Alessi's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Phil Alessi Sr. announces his passing, on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the age of 74 years.
Phil will be lovingly remembered by his longtime partner and wife, Lynda Fast Alessi, and his children John Alessi, Dena Alessi Bowden (Eddie), Phil Alessi Jr. (Amanda), and Jason Alessi as well as his step-children Jason Beetley and Darlene Beetley(Mario). Phil will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Dreama, Giavanna, Philip III, Aiden, Pierson, Aleah, Skylar, and Cory. He will be dearly missed by his brother, Nick (Viola), sisters, Josie (Wayne), Rosalie (Anthony), Gwen (Arthur deceased) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Phoebe Alessi.
Phil, a Tampa icon, was the third-generation owner of Alessi Bakeries. In addition to the bakery, Phil was the owner of Alessi Promotions, a preeminent boxing promotions company. His reputation for honesty and integrity earned Phil the friendship of notable boxing figures such as Muhammad Ali, "Ferdie" Pacheco, and Angelo Dundee. Phil was inducted into the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame in 2010.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grace Family Church Waters Campus, 5100 W. Waters Ave. Tampa, FL, 33634. A service will follow the viewing at 7:30 p.m.
Private Burial Services for Phil will be held on Wednesday, May 16th, 2018, 10:00 a.m., departing Boza and Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave, Tampa, FL 33603, with Pastor Greg Froehlich officiating. Entombment will follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.
