Perry Ramsey Gibbons' Obituary
GIBBONS, Perry Ramsey, 86, of Tampa, went to his heavenly home Mar. 12, 2012. Perry was born in Archer, FL. As a young boy, his passion was spending time in the woods hunting wild game. He was an avid hunter throughout his life. After retirement, he hand crafted "Turkey Callers," which were distributed all over the country. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a navigator on a B-24. In 1949, he graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and was a lifelong, loyal Gator fan. He moved to Tampa and was a proud Tampa Electric Co. employee for 38 years before retiring. Because of his love for the Lord, his work continued through mission trips to Guatemala and through his service at Bayshore United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Brannen. He is survived by his wife Patricia, children, Fred (Leslie), Robert Gibbons and Candace Langford, grandchildren, Josh (Leslie) and Johnathan Gibbons, Matthew and Sara Langford. His five step children, Johnny (Joy), Patty, Julie (Jeff), Connie and Tommy and his other grandchildren Dana, Summer, Hanna, Kerri, Marcel, Kaylee, Jesse, Kelsea, Stephanie, T. J., and Kindela, and one great granddaughter, Desiree. He is also survived by two sisters, Ella Charnley and Caroline Clark, two brothers, Hunter and Henry Gibbons and many loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will take place at 4 PM on Monday, Mar. 19, 2012 at Bayshore United Methodist Church, 3909 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33611. Private graveside services will be held at Wacahoota Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Missionary Ventures, P.O. Box 593550, Orlando, FL, 32859 or the Alzheimer's Association, Tampa Bay Chapter, 9365 U S Highway 19, N. Pinellas Park, FL 33782.
