Pedro Rene Leon's Obituary
LEON, Pedro Rene, 84, of Tampa, peacefully passed away at home on October 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cuba, the youngest of 8 siblings, to the late Pedro and Maria Victoria Leon. Pedro, his wife and infant daughter fled to Tampa from Cuba in the early 1960’s, reuniting with his young son who was sent to Tampa months prior. Starting with nothing, Pedro and his wife Julia worked tirelessly, sacrificed continually, and persevered through many setbacks. Eventually they opened their own sod company, Leon and Son Sod Company, which is still a successful business today. P. Rene is survived by; Julia, his devoted wife of 70 years, son Pedro Rene and wife Olga, daughter Maria J. Leon, grandchildren: Alicia Rivera and husband Raul, P. Rene Leon III, and Alexandria Bishop, great granddaughter Valentina Rivera, extended family and numerous friends. A visitation will be held from 5 pm – 9 pm with a service at 7:30 pm, Friday, October 21 at Boza and Roel Funeral Home 4730 N Armenia Ave, Tampa. A funeral mass will be celebrated 9:30am , Saturday October 22, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1711 E 11th Ave, Tampa. Entombment will follow at Garden on Memories Cemetery, Tampa.
