Mr Paul C. Spoto's Obituary
SPOTO, Paul C., 88, of Tampa passed away Jan. 24, 2007. Mr. Spoto was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, the Battle of the Bulge and was also a POW. He followed his father and owned the Progresso Importing Co. for over 50 years. Mr. Spoto was a musician and played with all of the popular local bands including Victor Ruiz, Young Raymond and the Casino Orchestra. He was a member of the Italian Club of Tampa and a longtime member of the La Nuova Sicilia Unita Lodge #1251, Order Sons of Italy in America. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Mary C. Spoto. Survivors include his wife: Georgina "Cookie" Rodante Spoto; son: John P. Spoto and wife Sonia Spoto; daughter: Mary Spoto Solar and husband George G. Solar; sister: Josephine Spoto Sierra; grandchildren: Cheryl Rodriguez and husband Marc, Natalie, Christopher and Martin Solar, Valerie Quitiliani and husband Gino, Brian Spoto and wife Robyn, Angela Spoto and seven great grandchildren . Pallbearers include: Martin , George and Christopher Solar, Brian Spoto, Marc Rodriguez, Steve Hovsepian, Gino Quitiliani, Paul Sierra and Sam Rodante, Jr. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Home Association, 1203 E.22nd St., Tampa, FL, 33605 or LifePath Hospice, Silver Team, 3010 W.Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Home Association and LifePath Hospice Silver Team for all their care, kindness and compassion. A Funeral Mass for the repose of Mr. Spoto's soul will be celebrated at 12 PM on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10 AM until 12 PM with a La Nuova Sicilia Unita Lodge Ritual at 11 AM . Entombment will follow in L'Unione Italiana Mausoleum with military honors.
