Pat's life was the most fun of all of us three siblings. Fun for her, fun to watch and fun to share. She was a PROFESSIONAL photographer, meaning she was paid for her insights. One memory, actually a genuine treat, was accompanying her to document a Herman's Hermits show in Orlando. Derek (Lek) Leckenby played my guitar...the Harmony Acoustic that Bo Diddley had also played.
She was, indeed, a well-established equestrian. While riding in The Gasparilla Parade in 1969, she signaled me to jump onto the back of her horse, an American Albino. My girlfriend at the time thought this was SO COOL, it took her another three months to dump me...!
Most recently, Thursday, we introduced her to the newest member of our family, Lydia, my granddaughter. The video of that event has been played over 1,600 times. I am CERTAIN that the promoter in Pat is just delighted.
As Johnny Charro's close friend and personal manager for over 43 years, she demonstrated an indescribable, yet undeniable, love that transcends even her passing. No doubt, he is devastated by her loss. My God! 46 years! Through the good times and the bad, they complimented each other. I remember when The Johnny Charro Band was at the Desert Ranch on St. Pete Beach. When it burnt to the ground, they lost EVERYTHING! Everything, that is, except the strength to rebuild. A month later, they were live at The Ramada Inn on Bearss avenue. Pat was a two-time survivor of Cancer and Radical Surgery and Johnny was there, by her side, supporting her every second of her ordeal. The loyalty of such a friendship is eternal and not likely to diminish with time or death.
So long, Pat. You've created so many wonderful memories, we are not likely to stop thinking of you until we are together again.....Until then, Rest Peacefully. I love you, Pat.
