Mrs. Olga H. Davis' Obituary
DAVIS, Olga H., 78, a lifelong Tampa resident, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on April 20, 2009. Olga was born on December 23, 1930, and grew up in Ybor City where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood surrounded by her loving family. During her early adult years, Olga moved to West Tampa, where she followed in the family tradition, working in cigar factories to support herself and her 2 children. In 1968, Olga fulfilled a lifelong dream and became a nurse, subsequently working in the pediatric unit at Tampa General Hospital and, later at Memorial Hospital. Always seeking greater knowledge and education, Olga enrolled at Hillsborough Community College and, in 1981, graduated with honors, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Human Services. Olga was a devoted wife, loving mother, and absolutely the best "Mami" to her only grandchild, Stephen. She loved deeply and passionately, and lived life to the fullest, always opening her heart and home to anyone in need. Olga was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women (Circle 14). She will be deeply missed by her Circle Sisters and all whose lives she touched. Olga is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Robert "Lloyd" Davis, beloved children, son, Daniel "Danny" Castrillon, and daughter, Sharon Castrillon Genuardi, cherished grandson, Stephen Genuardi, sisters, Nelida "Nellie" Villa (Rene), Aleida "Beba" Cabrera (Gilbert), brother, Oscar Hernandez (Matilde), and numerous loving nieces and nephews, including devoted nephew Rene "Butchie" Villa (Elsa), cousins, friends, and many others who considered her their "second mom". The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 am on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 South Dale Mabry Highway and a Funeral Mass for the repose of her soul will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in Myrtle Hill Mausoleum. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in honor of Olga's grandson, Stephen, to Autism Speaks, P. O. Box 4501, Tampa, FL 33677.
