Norma Frances Priede's Obituary
Norma Canto Priede, 83, born in Tampa on August 23, 1936 died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on June 17, 2021. She met the love of her life at West Tampa Junior High School and embarked on a lifelong journey of love and loyalty together. Norma and Nilo were married for 65 years.
They moved eight times and built five of their own homes. Nilo designed each one, and Norma was the general contractor. They made friends in each city along the way. She was the ultimate hostess and always made sure to have everyone’s favorites on hand. Norma was famous for having enough food to feed 100 people and had a gift of making everyone feel like family. Norma was a concert pianist and accompanied every performance at Jefferson High School. She worked in the Registrars Office at the University of Florida, and supported Nilo’s lifelong obsession of the Gators. Her tailgate spreads were legendary. She filled every room with her quick wit and ability to tell a story better than a professional comedian.
Survivors include her husband (Nilo) sons (Kenneth and Michael|Robin), daughter (Trina), granddaughters (Victoria and Alayna), grandsons (Davis and Blake), and great-grandchildren (Ronin and Raven). Norma was preceded in death by her parents (Joseph and Corina Canto), and her brother (Joe). She will be greatly missed by her extensive family and hundreds of friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, June 23rd at Boza and Roel. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am – noon. Service at 12:00 pm; private burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Metropolitan Ministries in honor of Norma Priede. (metromin.org)
