Nereyda Gonzalez Carscallen's Obituary
Nereyda Gonzalez Carscallen, 85, of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Neddie was the daughter of Julio and Marta Gonzalez and a member of Our Lady Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and a proud graduate of the University of Tampa. She was a dedicated educator who was passionate about her students and their families. Throughout her 40 year career, she touched many hearts and inspired young minds, and passed along the value of reading.
Neddie’s friends and family knew her to be loving and loyal. She was the greatest champion of those that she loved and their fiercest protector. Of her many titles, “Abuela” was her favorite role.
Neddie was predeceased by her parents, Julio and Marta Gonzalez, her brother-in-law, Frank Menendez, and son-in-law, Alan Medina. She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, John “Luke” Carscallen; her daughter, Caroline Medina and grandchildren Mateo Medina and Stella Medina; her daughter, Barbara Mienik and grandchildren Bea Mienik and Grant Mienik; her sister, Emma Menendez and nephew Steve Menendez (Anna) and niece, Michelle Salgado, and a loving extended family.
