Morris Joseph Fonte Jr's Obituary
Morris (Mo) Joseph Fonte Jr. was born on June 26, 1950 to Morris Fonte Sr. & Adeline (Cappello) Fonte in Tampa, FL.
Morris graduated from Jesuit High School in Tampa. He then went onto the University of Florida and graduated in 1972. Go Gators! Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy as a reservist and was accepted into law school where he earned his JD degree in 1979.
During his time at UF, he met his one true love, Pamela (Ahlman) Fonte. Together, they put down roots in Tampa and raised one daughter, Heather June Fonte.
Morris loved his family above all else, and was over the moon when his only granddaughter, Kaylee Lynne Fonte, was born in 2007. Morris became a Nano! He adored and doted on his granddaughter and was incredibly proud of the young lady she is becoming.
Morris will always hold a special place in the hearts of the many people who loved him. He is survived by Pamela, Heather, & Kaylee Fonte, brothers Dennis & Ronald Fonte, sisters Deborah (Fonte) Egan & Cynthia (Fonte) Menendez, close friends Rico Urso and Tina Oliver, and so many more family and friends.
Morris proudly worked for the Hillsborough County Assistant State Attorney’s office for over 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Northwest Optimist Club & the Tampa Bay Rough Riders.
Morris was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, even while facing challenges of his own. He genuinely cared and put others before himself. He loved his family and friends and would go to the ends of the earth for all of them.
Attending Gators and Bucs games was where he found a lot of joy. He also loved traveling and vacationing with his friends and family. Playing and watching golf was another favorite pastime. He had an endearing love for animals, especially horses.
Morris was truly one of a kind, lighting up every room he entered. Let’s be honest, the man knew how to have a good time! His legacy will live on through his family and friends, especially his granddaughter, Kaylee. In lieu of flowers, we are kindly asking for donations to Kaylee’s college fund. Education was always critically important to Morris and he would want to ensure Kaylee has an opportunity to carry on Morris’ legacy at the college of her choosing (hopefully at UF!). #nanoslegacy
A funeral service will be held at Boza & Roel Funeral Home on Saturday, August 14th, at 11:00am. The family will receive visitors an hour prior, from 10:00am to 11:00am. Morris will be laid to rest at Garden of Memories cemetery, and following the committal a reception to celebrate Morris' life will be held at Trattoria Pasquale, beginning at 2pm.
