My condolences to Matilda's lovely family. I had the honor of serving with her years ago on Tampa Hispanic Heritage- and ever since, enjoyed her warm inviting smile anywhere I ran into her- whether Christ the King Church or Outback for lunch, or any one of the many organizations she belonged to! What a blessing to have so many memories of such a lovely lady- what a beautiful legacy for your family! Please know she was loved, and will remain in so many hearts! Irene Rodriguez
I did not meet Mrs. Martinez in person but I can tell that she was very kind, full of accomplishments and surrounded by a loving family. It's hard and very painful to know that death can take away a loved one in just a blink of an eye. In Psalms 55:22 God commends us to " throw our burden on him, and he will sustain us". May Jehovah god the God of all comfort give you strength and may the family love that surrounds you help you through these hard times.

My husband, Tom, worked with Anita de Palma who was a good friend for many years with Matilda. That is how I got to meet her. We attended several LULAC meetings in Tampa at La Teresta Restaurant. Matilda was so kind and took us both to the Columbia Restaurant for dinner and a show. We really enjoyed the fellowship and the dancers. I love the colorful dresses of Spanish woman. I was blessed to go to Spain with Anita and to take a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico. My favorite picture of Matilda was one taken with a gorgeous painting of her by her side. Anita was there also. We will miss
her as she was a real LADY of the South. She had many friends and a large family which we got to meet some of them while we worked with her and Anita. We know she is celebrating with Max, Anita and other family who went before her. I know she is dancing with Jesus right now. We will not say good-bye to you but we will say see you soon.
