Mary Teresa Valenti's Obituary
Mary Teresa Ficarrotta Valenti entered into eternal rest on Christmas Eve, a day before her 91st birthday. She passed away peacefully and surrounded by the love and support of her family. She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, James J. Valenti. She is survived by her son James P. Valenti, her daughter Ann Lumia, her son-in-law Spencer Lumia, and her four grandchildren: Annabella, Andrew, Salvatore, and Katherine.
Mary was born in 1934 in Ybor City, just a few minutes after her twin sister Rosemary Ficarrotta Garcia, to Paul and Margaret Ficarrotta. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart and eventual husband. Mary took great pride in being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Everything she did was for her family, and she did it always with a smile and cheerful spirit. An exceptional cook, she lovingly prepared meals that brought her family together every Sunday. She also played an instrumental role in raising her grandchildren, remaining a constant and loving presence at each of their most important life moments. To Mary, dedication to family was never work—it was her life’s purpose, and it brought her deep fulfillment and joy.
Mary will be remembered for her selflessness, timeless beauty, and radiant optimism. The imprint she left on our hearts will be with us forever. Services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Boza and Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N Armenia Avenue. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am. Internment and graveside services will take place at 12:00 pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue. In lieu of flowers, you can make a contribution in Mary’s name to the Jesuit High School scholarship fund
