Marta I. Lopez's Obituary
Marta Irene Santiago Lopez was born on October 22, 1964 in Ponce PR. Daughter of Ramon Santiago Gonzalez and Matilde Ramirez Cruz. She was the third of five brothers; Juanita Moreno, Raymond Santiago, Angel L. Santiago and Andres Santiago. After seventeen years in Puerto Rico, the year 1982 she moved to Norwich, Connecticut where she started working at New England Furniture. In 1983 she met her husband, Manuel Lopez, Jr. with whom she had two daughters, Janice Lopez and Elizabeth Lopez. By circumstances of life and looking for a better future for her family, she moved to the state of Florida in 2007 where she continued her work as a Blackjack dealer at Hard Rock casino in the city of Tampa until she was affected with her health. Although she worked, she always helped everyone who needed a favor, without complaining, without hesitation, without excuse, not caring who. She was an excellent daughter, sister, cousin, aunt and above all mother and grandmother whom her grandchildren called meme; James, Juven and Janaelise Rodriguez and Anely Williams; the stars of her eyes. Unfortunately, her health declined more when she contracted a bacteria in the blood known as sepsis and because of that, she was in ICU for a period of four months. Thanks to the Lord and for her strength to continue living, she came out as what she was, a victorious warrior. She enjoyed her recovery by traveling to Norwich, Connecticut, she shared time with all her family and friends. After a while her health declined again because of cancer, thus beginning another battle and like a champion, she battled that war until July 10, 2019, the day that the Lord said, it was time to end her battle. Now she is not in pain or suffering, but she is at peace. Worthy woman, daughter of God, which we now carry in our hearts and will always be remembered as a champion, and to God be all the Glory. Amen.
