Happened to see Marisol's obituary shared on our Sacred Heart Academy High School Alum private Facebook page. Marisol's family homestead where she grew up was at the corner of 12th & Nebraska Avenues next door to my grandparents' home (Mary & Ignazio Massari) before urban renewal ravaged the neighborhood to make way for the Interstate. I remember her and members of her family with love: Her grandmother, Esperanza; her mother, Olvido; her daughter, Francine, and especially her brother, Rene, who was best friends with my mother and aunt (Aida and Josephine Reina). Marisol graduated from SHA the year I was born so never had the opportunity to walk the halls of our beloved school with her. A beautiful person inside and out. Sincerest condolences to the family. May she rest in eternal peace. :heart::pray:

We lost a special person. My brothers and I were her only niece and nephews, and she loved us as her own. And we loved her like a mom. She was one of my favorite people. She was fun, funny, the life of the party. We always looked forward to our family trips to Florida. She left many wonderful memories for us and we are very lucky to have had someone so special in our lives. Love you Aunt Mari!

Aunt Mari . . .
Why am I crying as I write this? I should be rejoicing now that you are released from that valley of tears you silently lived in these last several years…especially since I offered Mass for you for that very reason! :) Or rather for the reason that you could now or shortly hereafter enjoy eternity with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit you worshiped every Sunday at Mass; and enjoy it together with the ones you loved—and we in New Orleans loved—whom you’re now joining: (as we would call them) Uncle Manuel, Mamalita, Dad, Mom, Aunt Rita, Uncle Rene, Adela, and the others whose names I never knew.
I’m crying not only because you are now seeing those whom I myself loved and whose memory is still with me—even from 40 years ago—but because I still remember how enjoyable it was to be with you, and all the rest, those many summers we spent at the beach: a memory that strikes me harder now that you are gone.
But of course, you’re not gone! And that’s the joy of our faith: that you and all those others we loved are now looking out for us, interceding for us, that we too may one day join you in the Land of the Living!

AFTER GRADUATION WE MEET FOR LUNCH EVERY MONTH ABOUT 10-12 GIRLS, SHE WAS A DEAR FRIEND NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN ! SHE REALLY WAS THE LIFE OF THE PARTY GIRL!!
