Mario Rodriguez Jr.'s Obituary
Mario Rodriguez, 77, of Tampa passed away June 15, 2020 after a long illness. Born February 5, 1943 to the late Mario and Rose Rodriguez, he was a lifelong Tampa native and was proceeded in death by the love of his life, Sheila Ann (Granda) in 2002.
Mario was a family man and used the lessons that Sheila taught him about love to navigate life as a widower. Never totally adjusting to life without her, the love of his daughters and their families sustained him.
Mario is survived by his loving daughters & sons-in-law, Yvette & Vince Scanio and Krista & Michael Seoane. His grandchildren Chenzo, Briana, Matthew & Delaney were the absolute light of his life.
After a lifelong career with Winn Dixie, Mario spent the last of his working years with the State of Florida Agriculture Department. After retirement, Mario enjoyed part time work at Babe Zaharias Golf Course where he could work and enjoy the game he loved so much. Although golfing and fishing were his hobbies, watching his grandchildren participate in their various activities were the highlight of his days. As a Master Mason and a 32nd Degree Mason, he belonged to the Scottish Rite located in the Valley of Tampa.
Mario’s family wishes to thank everyone who helped care for him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in “Memory of Master Mario Rodriguez”. A celebration of life will be held June 27th at 11:00AM at A.W. Windhorst Lodge No. 185, 5011 N. Nebraska Ave. Tampa 33603. (Following CDC Guidelines)
