Mrs. Maria Pozo's Obituary
POZO, Maria, also known as Santa, was called to heaven on January 31, 2013 at the age of 73. Born in San Cristobal, Pinar Del Rio, Cuba. She was one of many that made up arguably the greatest generation of Cubans. She lived for her family. She came to the U.S. on May 13, 1970 during the Freedom Flights and was a member of "Casa Cuba." Always a vocal proponent of freedom and democracy for Cuba. She's survived by her husband of 56 years, Simon; her children and their spouses, Consuelo (Jose), Clara (Rene), Jose (Martha); her grandchildren, Silvia (Miguel), Mara (Rob), Julissa (JJ), Rene Jr. (Katie), Carolina (Cody), Bella, Gabby; her great grandchildren, Tito, Diego, Michael, Thalia; siblings, Fernando, Clara, Julia, Joche and Sandra. The family would like to thank the following for their support and care: Dr. Jose Soler, Dr. Darla Broderick and her wonderful staff...especially Nancy and Tammy; Life Path Hospice and their amazing nurses (Clara, Sassy, Bernice and Brenda). Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
