Maria Asuncion Lopez Sanchez's Obituary
In loving memory of Maria Asuncion Lopez-Sanchez, “Sunchita,” who passed peacefully at home in Tampa, Florida on September 17th, 2024. She lived 102 years full of love, laughter and resilience. Maria was born and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico on March 7th,1922. She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel Lopez and Juana Sanchez, her 11 brothers and sisters, as well as her husband Ramon Sanchez and son-in-law Raymond Olivieri. She was a proud military wife and fortunate to live in different parts of the world while nurturing and caring for her beautiful family.
Maria is survived by her three children, Ramon Luis (Clarisa) Sanchez, Carmen (Frank) Castanon and Leila Olivieri. She leaves behind an amazing legacy through her grandchildren: Mairi (Tiburcio) Serrata, Lisa (Geir) Larsen, Ramon (Sunni) Sanchez, Victor Sanchez, Mario (Cristina) Sanchez, Natalie (Manny) Rivera Jimenez, Radames Rivera Jimenez, Justin (Montanna) Hennessy, Stephen Olivieri and Nicole (Roberto) Rosado. Great-grandchildren: Warren and Brandon Serrata, Elba and Hanna Larsen, Jessica and Abigail Sanchez, Gabriela and Tatiana Sanchez, Penelope Sanchez, Breanna and Izabella Hennessy, Julian and Olivia Rosado. Great-great-grandchildren: Nolan, Crew and Jax. As well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial and service will be held at Boza and Roel Funeral Home on September 28th 2024 from 1:00pm-3:00pm, located at 4730 N Armenia Ave, Tampa, FL 33603. Maria will be interred with her spouse at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maria’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association. All of which were organizations dear to her heart.
