Luz Rachel Santiago's Obituary
Luz Rachel Santiago
February 22, 1947 – January 27, 2026
Luz Rachel Santiago, known affectionately to everyone as Rachel, passed away peacefully in Tampa, Florida, on January 27, 2026. She was a woman of profound faith, boundless generosity, and a "green thumb" that could make anything bloom.
A Life of Roots and Growth
Born on February 22, 1947, in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, to Felix and Victoria Santana, Rachel carried the warmth of the island with her wherever she went. She was the cornerstone of a beautiful, expanding family tree, celebrating 54 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Ralph Santiago. Together, they nurtured a legacy of love through their three children, Chris, Michael, and Kelly, and her spirit continues to blossom in her three cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Jacob, and Crosse. She joins her parents, Felix and Victoria, in eternal rest, leaving behind a family built on the firm foundation she provided.
A Legacy of Faith
Rachel’s life was defined by her service to the Lord. Her spiritual journey took her from the seats of Patmos Fellowship in the Bronx to her most recent church home at Arise Church in Brandon, Florida.
She was a vibrant presence in her church communities, serving faithfully on the Praise and Worship team and the Prayer team. Rachel had a special gift for working with children, nurturing their faith with the same patience and kindness she showed everyone who crossed her threshold. Her home was a place where the door was always open, and no one remained a stranger for long.
Her Sanctuary on the Lanai
While Rachel didn't have a traditional garden, she turned her lanai into a lush, tropical paradise. She loved her plants "so, so much," and spent countless peaceful hours tending to them. To her, the lanai wasn't just a porch; it was a place of reflection, growth, and beauty—a reflection of the care she poured into everything and everyone she loved.
"Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." — Proverbs 31:28
