Luis "Chino" Enrique Martin's Obituary
Our beloved Luis (Chino) Enrique Martin sadly passed away on May 27, 2024.
Luis was born September 6, 1966, in Florida, Camaguey, Cuba. He moved to the United States in 1969 when his parents, Pedro Arjelio Martin (preceded in death) and Ada Nieves Martin, decided to leave Cuba. The family settled in Union City, NJ, where Luis attended Edison Elementary School and Emerson High School. He graduated from Emerson High School in 1984.
In his early 30s, he became a realtor and had his own Real Estate company on the corner of 2nd and New York Ave in Union City. Luis became a Commissioner for the Parks and Recreation Dept. of Union City before moving to Boston, Massachusetts, in 2012.
He started working for The Federal Civilian Workforce at Natick and began integrating himself into the community. His experience as a Commissioner in Union City gave him the ease and confidence to take on the task of becoming a committee member of the Centro Cultural Cubano Club in Boston.
Similar to his professional path, Luis was always eager to learn and master new skills and hobbies in his personal life, from learning new songs on the guitar to free throw shots on the basketball court to feeling the ocean breeze while windsurfing. He even pursued a career in stand-up comedy, sharing his humor with the world.
His thirst for knowledge knew no bounds, but his eagerness to acquire new knowledge was not only to enrich his life but to share that knowledge with others. He loved to inspire and motivate everyone in his life.
And he truly enjoyed a good cigar and a good tequila.
We will always remember his quick wit, animated laugh, and love for his family. We will forever cherish our memories of him.
Luis is survived by a loving family, including his four children, Penelope, Sabrina, Priscilla, and Ethan. He was a devoted son to his mother, Ada Nieves Martin, and his stepfather, Luis Arencibia. His girlfriend, Milagros Cruz, was his companion for many years.
Luis was a beloved brother to Merida (Oscar) Bernaldo, Pablo (Anne) Martin, Omar (Margaret) Martin, and Ada (Jaclyn) Martin. Luis was also a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, Alan Bernaldo (Carlos Laverde), Adriana (Juan Miguel) Santos, Cassandra Martin, Mitchel Martin, Kristina (Jesse) Lucks, Peter Martin, Julie Martin, Sarah Martin, and grandnephew Aidan Dierkes Martin and grandnieces Mia and Camila Santos.
