Ligia Arenas' Obituary
ARENAS, Ligia (Sanchez) 96, passed away on November 30, 2018. She was born in Tampa on May 31, 1922. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 61 years, Jose R. Arenas; her parents, Jose Ramon and Manuela Sanchez; and her brother, Ramon Sanchez. She is survived by her daughter, Vivian Arenas Battles, and son-in-law, Emmett Lamar Battles, of Tampa; sister, Carmen Sanchez Corces of Tampa; a niece, nephews, and cousins.
Ligia was an accomplished seamstress. She worked for Haber’s Department Store, John Baldwin, and Maas Brothers, from which she retired in 1984. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and cooking-paellas being her specialty. She was a kind, loving, and devoted wife, mother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass to follow. Interment will be at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa.
