Lawrence U. Castro's Obituary
Lawrence U. Castro, born on February 20, 1932, peacefully departed this world to be with the Lord on September 13, 2023, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roberta Castro, and their cherished daughter, Patricia Schopke. Lawrence leaves behind a legacy of love and a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He is survived by his loving children, Larry Castro (MaryJo), Cathy Sullivan (Burt)and Pam Bullara (Sam). Lawrence's devotion to family was unparalleled, and his presence will be deeply missed. In addition to his children, Lawrence leaves behind a rich tapestry of descendants. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren, a cherished great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren, and a source of joy for four great-great-grandchildren. His love and wisdom have touched multiple generations, leaving an indelible mark on his family's history.
Beyond his role as a devoted family man, Lawrence's life was marked by dedication and service to his community. He attended Jesuit High School in Tampa and later became a respected firefighter, rising to the rank of captain with the City of Tampa Fire Department. His commitment to protecting and helping others made a profound impact on the lives he touched. Lawrence U. Castro's life was a testament to the enduring power of family bonds, and his memory will continue to be a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Though he has left this world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return. The funeral service to honor the life of Lawrence U. Castro will be held at Saint Paul's Catholic Church on October 2, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Friends, family, and all those whose lives were touched by Lawrence are invited to gather and pay their respects as we celebrate his remarkable journey and the legacy he leaves behind.
